Summer Lovin’

August 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Nibbles

Everything is colorful, juicy and ripe right now. It’s all I can do not to squeeze or taste every offering at the farmers markets.
Needless to say, the real pain is felt in my wallet, but I am not complaining. I couldn’t care less about bread or croutons or dough when there’s so much bounty about.
Sunday’s [...]

Midsummer Night’s Feast

July 17th, 2008 · No Comments · Farmers Market, Recipe

With this summer vegan stint, I’ve been loving on Veganomicon, a vegan tome that I gave to Gluteneer for Christmas last year. (Ironically, he also received a three-month subscription to bacon-of-the-month club, but I digress.) We made a tangy, sweet, and spicy dish of chard with chickpeas. You could sub in any chard or even collards. [...]

Pork Barrel

July 8th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Farmers Market, Recipe

As you might recall, Gluteneer and I joined a CSA. Each week I head to Glover Park for a veritable grab-bag of fresh produce.
One week could be collard greens, spring onions, and strawberries, the next could be kale, snap peas, and apricots. It’s always a tote-bag’s worth of goodies.
I have no idea how to cook [...]
